It has been ages since the automotive world has had so much to talk about. Among the hottest topics is the seventh generation of the most successful premium sedan, the BMW 5 Series. For 2017, an entirely new 5 Series has hit the streets.
2017 BMW 5 Series Sets the Bar High
For this new luxury sedan, BMW has pushed the envelope farther than ever. At first glance, the kidney-shaped grille is immediately identifiable as BMW, then your gaze is drawn to the outstanding LED Adaptive lights, which are standard equipment. Smooth, sultry lines carry your eye down the side toward the rear of the car. It’s there you’ll notice the low center of gravity emphasized on the 5 Series.
For those who want an epiphany behind the wheel, the 5 Series delivers. While the standard features are incredible, other available options take center stage. The all-new 5 Series incorporates the latest Head-Up Display technology, taking visibility to a whole new level, and for those who desire the most comfortable business sedan, the available 20-way seats with massage function can relax out the kinks after a long day.
Infotainment takes a step forward also with Voice Control that can understand natural voice input as well as BMW Gesture Control. In addition to touchscreen capabilities and the latest iDrive 6.0 interface, drivers can use simple hand gestures to control audio volume, answer calls, and manipulate the navigation screen.
Thrilling Performance Guaranteed
Two engine options were initially introduced with the 2017 BMW 5 Series. Buyers can choose from the 248-horsepower direct-injected 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the 530i or the 335-horsepower 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine planted in the 540i. in either format, purchasers can choose either standard rear-wheel drive or BMW’s xDrive AWD system.
Regardless of the engine choice, smiles are guaranteed. The 530i sedan can achieve 0-100 km/h in 6 seconds while the 540i sprints to 100 km/h from a stop in 4.9 seconds. That will get the blood flowing a little faster.
BMW’s Connected Car
As if that isn’t impressive enough, the BMW 5 Series is more connected than ever. Using the BMW Connected app, users can take advantage of their own in-car WiFi Hotspot, Concierge Service, Apple CarPlay including Siri functionality, and remain cordless while using Wireless Charging. If that isn’t enough, you’ll find your best helper in the Driving Assistant Plus and Remote Control Parking. What more could you need?
Winning Awards Already
It’s based on these amazing features that the completely redesigned 2017 BMW 5 Series is already garnering praise. At the 2017 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, the 5 Series was awarded Best Designed User Experience from EyesOnDesign.
M-Performance Also Coming
In 2017, the BMW 5 Series will have the M Performance package for the first time. The M550i xDrive will be the top of the 5 Series lineup, powered by the TwinPower Turbo engine with 456 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. Although equipped with Intelligent AWD, the M550i remains predominantly rear-wheel drive for an exceptional driving experience. The 2017 BMW M550i xDrive can race from a standstill to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds. It’s the fastest 5 Series ever built.
