In its third generation, the BMW X5 once again surpasses its own standards – as a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) that offers outstanding luxury in all areas in which the highest demands are made. This is guaranteed by a wide range of intelligent technologies that elevate efficiency, driving dynamics, comfort and versatility to a whole new level – both on and off the road.
You might not typically associate an SUV with nimble handling and an engaging driving experience, but that's exactly what the BMW X5 SAV can pull off. Plus, those looking for the ultimate combination of performance and utility will love the 567 horsepower X5 M. Cruise from the Metro Vancouver area into the mountains in total comfort, in a climate controlled interior with up to three rows. And outsource your worries to BMW Assist, which can remotely open and lock doors, help in recovering lost or stolen vehicles, and provide roadside assistance during the times where you want it most.

There are four strong engines offered with the new X5. The first is BMW's ubiquitous turbocharged 3.0L inline-6 that propels forward with 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque, and uses just 7.5L/100km, or 31 miles per gallon. The next engine comes in the form of the AWD xDrive50i powertrain: a turbocharged V8 that roars at 445 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque, and when properly equipped can tow up to 6,000 lbs. For diesel aficionados, the new xDrive35d powertrain introduces the alternative fuel source into the mix. And at the top of the tree is the same turbocharged 4.4L V8 from the M5 and M6, and gives the X5 M a monsterous power output of 567 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. All four engines are routed through a lightning-quick 8-speed automatic transmission.
The new 2016 BMW X5 does well to meet your expectations for safety in a luxury SUV. Similar to most other BMW models, the X5 provides a solid standard package of fundamental features, such as stability and traction control, comprehensive airbag coverage, ABS, and active seat restraints. Optional features include the rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, and Active Park that can take over your parallel and perpendicular parking at the click of a button.
BMWs are built for posh comfort over functionality; but that doesn't mean that they give up any ground in the latter category. With an available 3rd row, the new X5 can carry a few extra passengers, or else forego that option and lounge in the generous legroom of the 66 cubic feet of cargo space (with the seats folded down). And don't pass up on the split two-section liftgate, which allows you quick and easy access to the rear storage space, also folding down and making it easier to tailgate. The X5 M adds to the regular X5's appeal with niceties like a heated leather steering wheel, rear-seat entertainment system with dual 9.2-inch screens, and a Heads Up Display for the driver, which allows them to check their speed, revs, and even navigation at a glance.
